Creating Accessible Home Modifications: Facilitating Safety, Function and Options for Independence in the Home
An exciting opportunity for continuing education and CEUs for Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers, Case Managers, DME specialists, or other healthcare professionals, this course will focus on proper evaluation, options, design elements, products, solutions, and funding resources for accessible home modifications. The course will have a practical focus a range of solutions that will address making your patient’s home more safe, secure, manageable, and comfortable. You will learn about funding resources and options as well as how to meet the needs of your patients in the most cost effective manner possible, as well as other more elaborate options for home modification and safety adaptations.

About Your Instructor:
Rob Horkheimer, MPT, CEAC, CAPS, ECHM – is a practicing physical therapist at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI and is owner and accessibility consultant for BILD – Bridgeway Independent Living Designs, LLC – serving Wisconsin and Illinois. Rob is a highly trained accessibility consultant who works with multiple disciplines including: interior designers, project managers, tradesmen, elevator/lift specialists, architectural designers, and other health professionals to provide both commercial and individualized adaptations for accessibility. Rob is one of the regions premier home modification specialists and has a great deal of accessibility consulting experience through his company BILD – Bridgeway Independent Living Designs, LLC
Course schedule & topics:
The course will begin at 8:00 and last until 3:30 with a 60 minute lunch break and 2 additional 15 min breaks.
